It is important to note that to reach the very top of the mountain you will need to hike. The Funicular will only take you so far, it does NOT reach the mountain peak.

GUIDED TOURS
MONTSERRAT TOUR WITH CABLE CAR AND LUNCH




Discover the history of Montserrat Monastery on a guided tour. You will arrive to Montserrat via a minibus shared with other tour clients. Take the opportunity to make new friends while you are whisked away up into the mountain.
After the extensive tour, you will have one hour of free time to explore your surroundings. You could visit the farmers market, the cafeteria, check out the souvenir stores etc.
Feeling hungry? A 3 course lunch at a family run farmhouse is included. There you can visit the animals they have on their land, the old olive oil press from the house and the botanic gardens.
Finally, experience breathtaking views on a cable car ride down the mountain. Your minibus will take you back to the city centre.
MONTSERRAT TAPAS AND WINE TOURS




Whether you are looking for a quick half day visit or an extensive full day tour, enjoy Montserrat combined with tapas and wine tasting at Oller del Mas chateau. The grapes are harvested exclusively from the vineyards on site.
A small group tour provides an intimate experience where you can ask your knowledgeable tour guide any questions.
A private bus will take you to Montserrat where you will have a guided tour of Montserrat Monastery.
MONTSERRAT TOUR WITH HOTEL PICK UP



If you want a luxurious experience choose a tour with hotel pick up. You will be picked up outside your hotel by private transportation. This tour is very exclusive as there are a maximum of 8 people permitted. As you can imagine this sell out tour can be difficult to acquire. A private tour bus will take you to Montserrat where you will have a guided tour of Montserrat Monastery.
MONTSERRAT TOUR WITH COG WHEEL TRAIN

If you are looking for an easy and relaxed tour to Montserrat we recommend a tour with the cog wheel train. This is the most affordable option.
You’ll be able to enjoy a full guided tour which will take you to the Benedictine Abbey of Montserrat Monastery.
MONTSERRAT HIKING TOUR




Small group tour recommended for those who enjoy the outdoors and long walks. Follow a hiking trail full of natural beauty in Montserrat Natural Park. Observe the area’s fascinating flora and fauna and witness unmissable scenic views. Also included is a ride on board the Sant Joan Funicular.
To recover some energy after the hiking, you will have the opportunity to taste the typical Catalan dessert, mel i mató (cheese drizzled with honey) from one of the local farmers.
Free time is included if you feel like checking out the local farmers market, cafeteria or souvenir stores.
Tips and Advice
- Weather
Please note that the weather in the countryside is often much colder than in the city centre.
As you reach the mountain peak there could be a dramatic temperature change.
Please check the weather schedule and dress appropriately for mountainous weather. - Mountain peak views
If you want to reach the very peak of the mountain you will have to hike.
The cable car, funicular, cogwheel train and tour bus do not take you to the very top of the mountain. - Timing
Make sure to be time sensitive with your return transport to the city centre.
No public transport available to the city centre during the night.
Hiking to the top of the mountain takes around 2 hours. - Black Madonna statue
Book in advance.
During peak season there can be queues of up to 2 hours to see the statue. - Escolania de Montserrat choir
To guarantee your visit to see the choir perform please double check their schedule.
Sometimes the choir go on tour to other countries and will be unavailable. - The Basilica
This is a public place of worship, you won’t necessarily have a seat on the church benches.
Subject to capacity, arrive early to avoid this issue, you could be denied entry if it has reached full capacity. - Farmers Market
There are high quality, locally produced products available to purchase.
