Flamenco in Barcelona wasn’t born on stages, it was born in the neighborhoods.

Since the late 19th century, the Romani communities of Gràcia, Hostafrancs and Somorrostro wove their own flamenco tradition. Tablao de Carmen

This flamenco show is performed in honor of one of the greatest flamenco dancers in the world, Carmen Amaya. Carmen was born in Barcelona, she was the first dancer to wear trousers when dancing, generating a stir. During the Universal Exhibition of 1929, she performed for the King of Spain Alfonso XII in this same venue. Always proud to be from Barcelona, Carmen triumphed in the great theaters of Europe, the United States and South America.

Los Tarantos Flamenco
